Founder & Principal Systems Architect, Technology Specialist (Est. 1990)
Vice President, Technical & Customer Support at Sonitor Technologies
Steve Cormier has engineered mission-critical enterprise systems, virtualized clusters, and secure networks for 36 continuous years. Since establishing Technology Specialist in 1990 in Central Florida, Steve has provided direct, hands-on principal engineering to commercial organizations across Orlando, Kissimmee, and nationwide, eliminating the overhead and dilution of junior helpdesk intermediaries.
In parallel to his private practice, Steve serves as Vice President of Technical & Customer Support at Sonitor Technologies, where he has led global support operations since 2010. Over more than a decade and a half at Sonitor, he architected a complete global support organization, custom operational toolsets, and multi-tier escalation frameworks supporting major healthcare hospital systems as their highest-level technical resource and final point of technical escalation.
Before his civilian enterprise career, Steve served in the United States Air Force in the Security Police at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. That military foundation in physical and perimeter security directly informs his approach to cyber hygiene, zero-trust infrastructure, and CIS Level 2 server hardening. Steve holds a degree in Criminal Justice and is Microsoft Certified, with recognized expertise across Active Directory domain architecture, Microsoft 365 enterprise tenant governance, and practical generative AI implementation.
November 2010 - Present // Sonitor Technologies
Steve Cormier joined Sonitor in 2010 as Director of Support and was subsequently promoted to Vice President, Technical & Customer Support. Over the course of more than 15 years, Steve built Sonitor's entire global customer service and engineering support apparatus from the ground up.
Operating in mission-critical healthcare environments where real-time location systems (RTLS) directly impact patient clinical workflows, asset tracking, and nurse call operations, Steve designed the tooling, diagnostic playbooks, and tier-3 escalation protocols required to maintain five-nines operational uptime.
As the highest-level technical resource within the global organization, Steve serves as the final point of escalation for high-complexity field incidents, enterprise client disputes, and software/firmware integration challenges. He leads a worldwide team of support engineers and customer service representatives, setting rigorous standards for diagnostic precision and rapid resolution.
1990 - Present // Technology Specialist (Orlando / Kissimmee)
Technology Specialist was established in 1990 to provide direct, senior-level systems engineering for Orlando-area businesses that require enterprise-grade reliability without hiring an internal corporate IT department.
Steve's practice spans physical rack infrastructure, multi-node VMware ESXi and Windows Server Hyper-V failover clusters, SAN/iSCSI storage design, and Layer 2/3 network segmentation. By maintaining direct principal engagement on every client engagement, clients bypass ticket queues and junior dispatch tiers, receiving immediate, authoritative architecture decisions.
Over 36 years, Technology Specialist has evolved alongside the technology landscape: from early NetWare and Windows NT networks to modern hybrid cloud environments, Microsoft Entra ID privileged identity governance, and enterprise AI implementations.
July 1992 - November 1994 // Security Police, Offutt Air Force Base
From July 1992 through November 1994, Steve served on active duty in the United States Air Force in the Security Police stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, the global headquarters of the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM).
His responsibilities included base defense, physical perimeter control, and asset protection in high-security military environments. Steve coupled this military service with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and comprehensive Microsoft Certifications, establishing an investigative, evidence-based mindset that defines his security and incident response methodology today.
Following his military service and early IT operations, Steve held key leadership roles at Exceptional Innovation (pioneering enterprise IP software, commercial automation, and hospitality systems integration) and Sound Advice (commercial electronics and high-end systems integration), deepening his hardware-level knowledge of commercial electronics, structured cabling, and networked control systems.
Sebring International Raceway // High-Performance Driver Coaching
High-speed track driving and enterprise systems architecture share the same core disciplines: rigorous pre-flight inspection, sub-millisecond telemetry monitoring, and total composure under stress.
Steve Cormier serves as the Lead Instructor for Track Day Xperience (TDX) at the historic Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida. In this role, Steve coaches advanced drivers through the grueling 3.74-mile road course, teaching braking threshold management, weight transfer mechanics, apex clipping, and telemetry analysis at speeds exceeding 140 MPH.
Whether analyzing brake temperature gradients on the Sebring backstretch or diagnosing latency spikes on an enterprise SAN fabric, Steve applies the exact same mindset: absolute mechanical precision, zero tolerance for unmonitored failure points, and data-backed performance tuning.
Kissimmee, Florida // Osceola County Community Engagement
Steve Cormier has lived and worked in Central Florida for over three decades, establishing deep community ties across Kissimmee, Orlando, and the broader Osceola and Orange County business corridor.
When not architecting enterprise hypervisors or instructing drivers at Sebring, Steve is dedicated to his family, enjoying Florida's Atlantic and Gulf coastlines and supporting local community initiatives. His business philosophy remains rooted in transparency, handshake accountability, and long-term client stewardship.
Kissimmee / Orlando, Florida
Founded private systems architecture and IT consultancy practice. Direct engineering of multi-node VMware ESXi and Windows Server Hyper-V clusters, SAN storage arrays, Microsoft 365 tenant migrations, carrier SIP trunking, and enterprise AI implementations across Central Florida.
Global Healthcare RTLS Infrastructure (Previously Director of Support)
Architected the global support organization, tooling, and escalation processes supporting Tier 1 hospital systems worldwide. Manages global support engineering teams and customer service representatives, serving as the highest-level technical resource and final point of technical escalation.
